Shabbat Erev Pesach – Egg Matzah Ashkenazim do not eat Matzah Ashirah (egg Matzah) even Erev Pesach (certainly not on Pesach itself), and even Shabbat Erev Pesach. This has always been the practice of this community. Since, however, there are opinions permitting it when Shabbat is Erev Pesach, for Hamotzi at the Friday night and Shabbat morning meals, in a situation where it would be extremely difficult to control the Chometz, these opinions may be relied upon. Note, however, that it may be eaten only up to the time when the eating of Chometz must cease, i.e. 9:45 a.m. |
